It’s a bad week to be Rockstar Games.

Hacker group ShinyHunters has told the BBC that stolen data taken from Rockstar Games will be published online after the studio failed to meet their demands. The group, described by the BBC as a prolific outfit of English-speaking cybercriminals believed to be teenagers, confirmed the leak is coming, with no indication of what those demands actually were.
Rockstar, for its part, isn’t showing much alarm publicly. A spokesperson said “a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach,” adding the incident has “no impact” on the studio or its players.

GTA 6 waiting game
As of writing, nothing has surfaced online. Whether Rockstar’s relaxed response reflects genuine confidence or careful damage control is anyone’s guess, but ShinyHunters’ track record suggests the threat shouldn’t be taken lightly.

With GTA 6 still scheduled for a 19th November 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, the studio will be hoping this stays contained. The next few days will tell.
