Star Wars Eclipse might be in more trouble than anyone officially let on.
First revealed at The Game Awards back in 2021, Quantic Dream‘s action-adventure title has gone largely quiet since, with the only official word being a vague promise to “share more in the future.”
Star Wars Eclipse – official cinematic trailer
Development on Eclipse is reportedly “very slow going,” with one source describing “very little progress over months.” While a solid chunk of the game has apparently been completed, the remaining work isn’t coming together, and as of December, insiders were saying the title is still years from being finished.
Money, not Creativity, is the real problem
Efforts to expand the development team hit a wall when parent company NetEase declined to invest further while it figures out its long-term strategy. Both NetEase and Quantic Dream are now reportedly pinning their hopes on Spellcasters Chronicles, the studio’s Early Access title that launched in February, to generate the revenue needed to keep Eclipse moving.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. One source warned that if Spellcasters underperforms commercially, NetEase may pull the plug on Star Wars Eclipse entirely.
