When a Dataminer Posts Two Maths Equations, the Internet Gets to Work

Halo fans have been spoiled for information lately, but this latest leak might be the biggest one yet.

Known Halo dataminer grunt.api dropped a cryptic post on X this week containing nothing but two mathematical equations: one labelled “EA” and another labelled “OR.” No caption. No context. Just numbers and Roman numerals.

Naturally, the community lost its mind.

What the Halo equations actually say

Players quickly got to work decoding the post, with the leading interpretation being that “EA” refers to Early Access and “OR” to an official release date.

Once solved, the equations apparently point to Thursday, 23rd July for early access and Tuesday, 28th July for the full launch, putting Halo: Campaign Evolved squarely in the summer 2026 window that many had already speculated about.

It’s worth stressing: this is fan-decoded maths from an intentionally vague social media post. Take it with a generous pinch of salt.

Why it might be worth paying attention

Grunt.api isn’t a random account. The dataminer has a solid track record with Halo-related leaks, which is exactly why the community treats their posts as worth decoding in the first place.

If the dates hold up, the Xbox Game Showcase on 7th June would be the natural moment for an official reveal, potentially with pre-orders going live at the same time.

For now, though, all eyes are on 343 Industries to make it official.
