Playground Games hasn’t wasted any time making a statement. Forza Horizon 6 has crossed six million players in just days, and that number isn’t slowing down.
A rocket start
Forza Horizon 6 launched globally on 19 May, having already racked up over one million players during Early Access. By 21 May, the developers confirmed via social media that six million people had taken their cars to Japan’s roads. At the time of writing, Steam alone shows over 258,000 concurrent players, a strong sign the momentum is very much alive.
Do the maths on that playerbase and it gets interesting. At a base price of $70, that’s at least $420 million in revenue generated from launch alone, before factoring in DLC or Game Pass subscribers.

Critics are on board too
It’s not just the player numbers that impress. Forza Horizon 6 is sitting at a 91 on Metacritic alongside an 8.8 user score, a combination that’s genuinely rare in modern AAA gaming.
The game’s deep roots in Japanese culture suggest Playground Games has built something they plan to nurture long-term. The community’s already busy creating mods, and the developers have been having a bit of fun with the setting too, including a cheeky nod to Pokémon that legal reasons stopped them from naming outright.

Six million players in. This one’s here to stay.
