GTA 6 leaks wipe $2 Billion off Take-Two’s stock

Take-Two's stock dropped and the company lost $2 billion in value following the GTA 6 leaks, as more footage and details continue to spread online.

Nothing tanks investor confidence quite like your most anticipated game spilling onto the internet before you’re ready. That’s exactly what’s happened to Take-Two since the GTA 6 data breach on August 18, and the numbers don’t look good.

Take-Two’s stock takes a hit

Using data from Yahoo! Finance, Take-Two’s stock was sitting at $232.84 at the time of writing, down from $248.13 before the leaks broke. That’s a $15.29 drop per share, and it’s wiped out roughly $2.83 billion in market cap in under two days. Take-Two is still worth over $43 billion, so nobody’s panicking in the boardroom just yet, but that’s still a brutal couple of days.

We can’t pin the drop entirely on the leaks. Stocks move for all sorts of reasons. But the timing lines up too well to ignore, and the leaks show no sign of slowing down.

More GTA 6 leaks could be coming

The leaker known as CYBERLEEK has reportedly proven they still have build access, which means this probably isn’t over. So far the leaks have covered the game’s map, an Honor System, and plenty of gameplay footage, with fears the ending itself could be next.

If that happens, Take-Two’s stock price might be the least of its worries.
