Tekken 8 just landed one of the most hype-worthy crossover announcements in the game’s history, Yujiro Hanma from the Baki anime is joining the roster.
The Ogre of the Baki world comes to Tekken
Confirmed via Tekken’s official X account, Yujiro Hanma will be the fourth playable DLC character added to Tekken 8, with his arrival slated for 2027. An announcement trailer dropped alongside the reveal, though it leans entirely on anime footage rather than showing any in-game content or character model. It’s clearly about building anticipation rather than offering a proper first look.
For anyone unfamiliar, Yujiro is the father of Baki’s protagonist and arguably the most terrifying force in the entire series. He’s so absurdly powerful that the US government reportedly signed a treaty with him rather than risk a confrontation. The man is a walking force of nature, which makes him a surprisingly natural fit for Tekken’s brand of high-octane fighting.

What’s next for Tekken 8?
The big question is how his moveset will translate into gameplay. Yujiro’s appeal is rooted in overwhelming dominance, so capturing that whilst keeping him balanced will be a genuine challenge for the development team.
This news comes as the series pushes forward following the departure of longtime director Katsuhiro Harada, who has since launched a new studio with SNK.
