Metro 2039 Shows Off New Renegade Gameplay in Exciting Trailer

Metro 2039 Renegade
Metro 2039 reveals a new Renegade gameplay trailer, showing The Stranger, dark Moscow locations, stealth action and the upcoming Collector's Edition.

Metro 2039 has given fans a fresh look at its dark world with a new gameplay trailer called Renegade. The trailer was shown during Opening Night Live and focuses on the game’s new main character, known as The Stranger.

The two minute video is made entirely from in game footage and custom camera work. It gives players a better idea of who The Stranger is and what drives him as he moves through a dangerous version of Moscow.

The new trailer explores more of The Stranger’s mysterious past and identity. He is shown using brutal methods while trying to enter Moscow, which is under the control of the Novoreich.

The footage also gives a closer look at the game’s mix of stealth and first person combat. Players will have to move carefully through dangerous areas while dealing with enemies and the harsh conditions of the Metro world.

The game is being developed with the proprietary 4A Engine, which helps create its detailed environments and action sequences.

Dark Moscow Takes Center Stage

Metro 2039 continues the series’ focus on atmospheric locations. The trailer moves between the daily life inside Sevastopolskaya station and the dangerous irradiated surface of Moscow.

The contrast is clear. Life inside the station feels more grounded and human, while the surface presents a much bigger threat. The new footage also highlights the hand crafted look of the game’s environments.

Collector’s Edition Revealed

Alongside the trailer, the developers also shared the first details about the Metro 2039 Collector’s Edition.

One of its main highlights is a physical replica of The Stranger’s battle damaged Spartan helmet. It is designed as a collectible item for fans who want something directly connected to the game’s world.

The Collector’s Edition will be available for pre order later this year. Fans can currently register their interest to receive information about when and where it will become available.

Metro 2039 Release Date

Metro 2039 is scheduled to launch in February 2027. The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Steam and Epic Games Store.

With the Renegade trailer, 4A Games has now offered a deeper look at its new protagonist, stealth focused gameplay and the dangerous world players will explore when Metro 2039 arrives next year.
