GTA 6 is a month away, and Rockstar is somehow still finding ways to leak details without actually leaking anything. This time, IGN has posted the full, uncut version of its August gameplay demo interview with Rob Nelson, Head of Development and Co-Studio Head at Rockstar North. Highlights surfaced weeks ago, but the complete transcript has a few extra bits worth picking through.
The funniest one first. Switch from Lucia to Jason at the wrong moment, and you might catch him naked in the shower. There’s also a side mission where Lucia meets a lawyer living in a dumpster, and yes, she can jump in with him. I have no notes. Rockstar remains Rockstar.

The more interesting stuff is how alive Leonida seems to be. Nelson says you can hand control of one character to the AI during a drive, sit back and listen to the radio, or chat with a taxi passenger. Jason and Lucia can also act on their own. Nelson described driving to a pawn shop when Jason suggested a different job as they passed a car park. Nelson hadn’t heard that line before, so he changed course. Pedestrians react to you too, and some may be carrying concealed weapons and willing to stop your crime in progress.
Crime has more consequences now in GTA 6
Stealing a car is no longer a quick button press. Modern anti-theft systems and trackers can alert the police, and a car with a black box might flag you just for how you drive. Cops also track what you’re wearing, so Nelson said changing your hair won’t help if your outfit is already known. Splitting Jason and Lucia up can also take some heat off, because police split their attention.
Social media is where I expected the most chaos, but it’s the opposite. You get Snapmatic, but you can’t post on it. You’re a couple on the run, so you just lurk. Fair enough, though I’d have liked to cause some trouble there.

Nelson also called what we’ve seen a “tiny, tiny slice” of the map and compared the game’s replayability to Red Dead Redemption 2. If that’s true, November is going to eat my entire month.
