GTA 6 Lucia isn’t even out yet, and she’s already being compared to Niko Bellic and Arthur Morgan. Rockstar’s writers don’t seem worried about that.
Game writer Alexa D’Agostino told Love Magazine in its October 5 edition that Lucia can “stand tall” next to both of them. She based Lucia on the women she knows, mainly her mum, an immigrant who grew up in Newark, New Jersey. That’s close to Lucia’s hometown of Liberty City. D’Agostino described her mum as rowdy and kind, but someone who wouldn’t take rubbish from anyone.

She also said she related to Lucia a lot. The goal was a proper person with wants and flaws, clichés included, rather than a perfect hero.
I reckon that’s the right call. Nobody loves Niko and Arthur because they’re cool. They stick with you because they’re messy.
GTA 6 puts extra pressure on Lucia
Lucia also has extra pressure on her. She’s the first major female lead in the series. Earlier games had playable women, but never one at this scale, and never as one of two main characters.

I’m cautiously on board. Rockstar rarely gets its characters wrong.
