TCL 700 Hz OLED Monitors Promise Faster Gaming in 2028

TCL 700 Hz OLED Panels for 2028
TCL 700 Hz OLED panels could arrive in 2028, bringing ultra-fast refresh rates to larger gaming monitors with improved display technology.

TCL is preparing a major step forward in gaming display technology, with plans to develop OLED monitor panels offering refresh rates of up to 700 Hz by 2028. The upcoming TCL 700 Hz OLED panels could come in 32-inch and 34-inch sizes, giving gamers the chance to enjoy extremely smooth gameplay on larger screens.

According to a new report from Omdia, TCL CSOT, TCL’s display manufacturing division, is developing these panels using inkjet-printed OLED technology. The company plans to produce them at its upcoming Gen 8.6 facility in Guangzhou, China, where production is expected to begin in 2028.

TCL 700 Hz OLED Panels Could Bring Faster Gaming

The planned TCL 700 Hz OLED panels are expected to target the gaming monitor market, where manufacturers continue to push for higher refresh rates. A 700 Hz refresh rate means the display can refresh its image up to 700 times per second, potentially delivering smoother motion in fast-paced games.

However, TCL has not confirmed the resolutions or full specifications of these panels. It is also unclear whether 700 Hz will be available at the monitor’s native resolution or through a dual-mode setting with a lower resolution.

Before introducing these high-speed panels, TCL is preparing smaller OLED products. Its Gen 5.5 production line is expected to begin shipping 27-inch 4K OLED panels with a 120 Hz refresh rate in the third quarter of 2026. These panels are intended for an MSI monitor designed for content creators.

LG Already Offers 720 Hz OLED Technology

TCL will face competition from LG Display, which has already developed a 24.5-inch Full HD OLED panel capable of reaching 720 Hz. The panel is used in the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace gaming monitor.

ASUS also offers the ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W, which reaches 720 Hz in its lower-resolution dual mode. This means TCL’s planned refresh rate will not be the highest available, but its focus on larger screen sizes could make the technology more interesting for gamers.

The planned 32-inch and 34-inch panels could offer a different choice for users who want a larger gaming display with an extremely high refresh rate. TCL’s inkjet-printed OLED manufacturing process could also reduce material waste and improve production efficiency.

OLED Monitor Demand Continues to Rise

The TCL 700 Hz OLED plans come as the market for OLED monitors continues to expand. Omdia expects global OLED monitor panel shipments to reach 6.1 million units in 2026, up 79% from the previous year. Shipments could increase further to 7.5 million units in 2027.

Prices are also falling. The report indicates that prices for 27-inch 240 Hz OLED monitors dropped by more than 40% in 2026, making the technology more accessible to buyers.

Samsung Display and LG Display are currently major suppliers in this market. If TCL becomes another large-scale supplier, increased competition could bring more options to monitor manufacturers and consumers.

The TCL 700 Hz OLED panels are still a future project, and their final specifications, pricing and release dates have not been confirmed. With production expected in 2028, more details should emerge as TCL moves closer to manufacturing these next-generation displays.
