The wait is almost over. EA FC 26‘s World Cup-inspired game mode, The World’s Game, has been officially confirmed for June 4, 2026, arriving just ahead of the real tournament kicking off this summer.
What is the World’s Game?
The confirmation came tucked inside PlayStation’s Days of Play blog post, which quietly revealed details about June’s PS Plus line-up alongside the FC 26 update’s release date.
FC 26 World’s Game brings a brand-new international tournament mode featuring 48 national teams, a significant jump from the 29 currently available in-game. New authentic stadiums are included to boost immersion, and official national team licensing will also be part of the package.

Beyond the tournament itself, EA is adding international-themed Manager Live Challenges and new international ICONs and Heroes for Player Career mode. It sounds like a fairly meaty update rather than a surface-level reskin.
No official FIFA licence, but close enough
EA doesn’t hold the rights to the official 2026 FIFA World Cup, so the experience won’t be entirely authentic in that regard. That said, with 48 teams, real stadiums, and proper national team licensing, it’s about as close as you’re getting without the official branding.

Leaks have been circulating for a while courtesy of Football Gaming Zone, but this PlayStation confirmation finally puts a date to the speculation.
