GTA 6 Gameplay Leaks Online Ahead of August Reveal

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) fans have something new to talk about ahead of Rockstar Games’ planned GTA 6 gameplay extended look later this month. Two short gameplay clips and what appears to be a map of the game’s fictional state of Leonida have surfaced online.

The leaked GTA 6 gameplay has been spreading across the internet, and Rockstar Games is reportedly sending DMCA takedown notices to people who share the footage. The clips have not been officially released by Rockstar, so their authenticity should still be treated with some caution.

One of the clips shows Jason, one of GTA 6’s main characters, at what appears to be his safehouse near the water. He can be seen using gym equipment, jumping over a balcony and moving toward a nearby jet ski. He then picks up a basketball and takes a few shots.

Interestingly, scoring a basket appears to give Jason a temporary focus boost. This could point to some RPG-style gameplay features in GTA 6, although it is too early to know exactly how this system will work.

The other leaked video shows Jason driving near an area called The Keys. Things quickly go wrong after he crashes into a delivery truck. A fight follows, and Jason uses a wrench to attack the other driver.

The footage also appears to show a wanted level, an energy bar and an icon that may be linked to Jason’s morality or honor. These details have led to comparisons with the honor system used in Red Dead Redemption 2.

There are also signs that GTA 6 could offer more vehicle management options. The footage briefly shows loadout and storage prompts, while another screen appears to show the vehicle name and a fuel meter. If the footage is genuine, players may have to keep an eye on fuel and could store certain items inside their cars.

The leaked map is also attracting attention. It appears to show a large version of Leonida, with Vice City taking up a major area in the east. The map also includes rural areas, smaller locations and several islands in the south that look similar to the Florida Keys.

Still, none of these leaked details should be treated as confirmed features. The footage could be from an older version of the game, and some details may have changed before launch. One recent report also claims the leaked footage could be more than a year old.

The timing of the leak is especially interesting because Rockstar is preparing its biggest official GTA 6 preview yet. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET before being released on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 website at 9 PM ET.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
