GL.iNet Fortify Is a Powerful New Wi-Fi 6 VPN Router With ExpressVPN

GL.iNet has introduced the GL.iNet Fortify (GL-MT6000), a new Wi-Fi 6 VPN router made in partnership with ExpressVPN. The router combines fast home networking with built-in VPN support, giving users a simpler way to protect devices connected to their home network.

The GL.iNet Fortify is based on the company’s Flint 2 hardware platform and comes with ExpressVPN integration from the start. It also includes 12 months of the ExpressVPN Advanced plan for both new and returning users.

Fast Wi-Fi 6 performance

The Fortify is an AX6000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router. It can deliver wireless speeds of up to 1,148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 4,804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. It also supports 4×4 MU-MIMO for handling multiple connected devices at the same time.

Inside, the router uses a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor, 1 GB of DDR4 memory, and 8 GB of eMMC storage. GL.iNet says the router can reach VPN speeds of up to 900 Mbps with WireGuard and up to 880 Mbps with OpenVPN DCO.

Other networking features include Multi-WAN failover, Smart Queue Management, and AdGuard Home support. These features make the router suitable for gaming, streaming, video calls, remote work, smart-home devices, and other daily networking needs.

ExpressVPN comes built in

The biggest difference between Fortify and a standard Wi-Fi router is its direct ExpressVPN integration. Users can set up and manage the VPN through the GL.iNet router interface, with WireGuard used for the ExpressVPN connection.

This allows VPN protection to be applied at the network level, which can be useful for devices that do not normally support VPN apps. Instead of configuring a VPN separately on every device, users can manage the connection from the router.

The included 12-month ExpressVPN Advanced subscription can also be used with ExpressVPN apps on personal devices when users are away from home.

The Advanced plan includes services such as ExpressKeys, a zero-knowledge password manager, Advanced Protection for blocking ads, trackers, malicious websites and adult content, along with ExpressMailGuard for email privacy. These extra services are accessed through ExpressVPN’s apps and services rather than directly from the Fortify router.

GL.iNet and ExpressVPN are also planning to continue their partnership beyond this product. Fortify is the first router under their longer-term co-branded partnership, with both companies looking at additional networking and VPN products in the future.

The GL.iNet Fortify (GL-MT6000) is available from September 16, 2026, through the official GL.iNet online store. It has an MSRP of $199.99, with 12 months of ExpressVPN Advanced included. Amazon availability is expected to follow after launch.
