Ten years old and still embarrassing the competition. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, CDPR’s new expansion for the decade-old RPG, pulled in more fresh wishlists after Gamescom’s Opening Night Live than any other game at the show, including brand new titles fans have been hyped for all year.
The numbers don’t lie
According to a graphic shared on X by data firm Alinea Analytics, Songs of the Past picked up roughly 451,000 new wishlists in the week around Gamescom (23-30 August). That’s not a close race either. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons came second with 379,000, and the sprawling open-world game Ananta took third with 302,000.
The rest of the top ten reads like a proper who’s who of this year’s Gamescom buzz, and Witcher 3 still walked past all of them:
- LEGO Skylines: 273,000
- Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake: 189,000
- WARDOGS: 146,000
- AFTERWORLD: 121,000
- Metro 2039: 110,000
- The Blood of Dawnwalker: 108,000
Alinea says these numbers reflect the wishlist jump specifically during Gamescom week, so this isn’t some slow-burn trend. It’s a direct reaction to the reveal.

Why it’s working
CDPR didn’t just tease more Witcher 3 content, they announced a remastered update alongside the expansion, and the reaction says fans are more than ready to jump back in. I got a closer look behind closed doors, and it genuinely felt like catching up with an old mate rather than sitting through a sales pitch.
If Gamescom wishlists are anything, Songs of the Past is already winning next year before it’s even out.
