Resident Evil Requiem & Veronica are reportedly getting big DLC

Resident Evil Veronica

Capcom apparently isn’t done with either of its two big Resident Evil projects, and that’s honestly great news if you can’t get enough of this franchise.

Requiem is one of the best games of the year, and the Code Veronica remake is already one of the most anticipated releases of 2027. But according to a new claim, both games are set to get proper DLC expansions once they’re out, and we’re not talking small stuff either.

The claim comes from Dusk Golem, a leaker with a long track record on Resident Evil news. They say Capcom has spent the last few months shifting its plans because there simply aren’t any spin-offs in the pipeline right now. Instead, the studio’s apparent workaround is to build several-hour-long story expansions for both Requiem and Veronica, with future mainline Resident Evil titles possibly getting the same treatment.

I reckon this makes a lot of sense. Full spin-offs take years to build from scratch, whereas story DLC lets Capcom keep players invested in games they’ve already built the engines, assets and worlds for. It’s a smart way to stretch the value of Requiem and Veronica without stretching Capcom’s development teams too thin.

Nothing’s confirmed by Capcom yet, so take it as a rumour for now. But if it’s true, Resident Evil fans have got a lot more to look forward to than just two games.
