Sony may be gearing up to show off its next PlayStation State of Play sooner than expected, if a new claim from a well-known industry leaker is anything to go by.

What’s been claimed?
Reliable leaker NateTheHate has suggested that Sony’s next State of Play presentation is tentatively pencilled in for Thursday, 16th April. It’s worth stressing, though, that the date hasn’t been officially confirmed by Sony, so treat it with appropriate caution for now.
State of Play is Sony’s answer to Nintendo Directs, serving as a regular showcase for upcoming PS5 titles and updates from PlayStation’s first-party studios.
The most recent State of Play delivered a solid slate, with reveals including Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a Castlevania comeback, and the surprise shadow-drop of God of War: Sons of Sparta.

Looking ahead, there’s plenty Sony could spotlight. SAROS is on the horizon, Insomniac’s Wolverine is slated for September, and the 007 First Light game, which recently had a limited-edition DualSense controller announced alongside it, could also make an appearance. Cross-platform titles like LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are in the mix, too.

Keep an eye out
If NateTheHate’s intel proves accurate, it won’t be long before Sony makes things official. We’ll keep you posted as soon as anything is confirmed.
