The Kingpin has entered the chat, and he’s on Faye’s side.
Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Fisk in Daredevil, jumped into the latest God of War Laufey row after a gamer called for a boycott over how the lead character looks. His reply was blunt. He disagreed completely, called his former Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll beautiful, talented, and kind, and said he can’t wait to play the game with his son. Fair play to him.

The gamer then claimed they weren’t targeting Woll herself, only Sony’s design choices. They also accused the studio of giving Faye “androgynous” armour and a “feminist agenda” to spite straight men. I’ll be polite and say that’s a stretch.
To prove Faye had been “butchered”, the gamer posted a picture of the real Woll. Commenters quickly pointed out that it was more than ten years old. So the comparison wasn’t a fair one, which rather undermines the whole point.
God of War Laufey has had a rough run
Santa Monica Studio has already been dealing with plenty of noise since the June God of War Laufey reveal, from the Kratos-less protagonist to the talking cube. Game Director Ariel Lawrence has also called out the sexist tone of much of the criticism. Woll herself said she had barely seen any of it.

I’d say the boycott talk won’t go anywhere. These campaigns rarely do, and the God of War Laufey arrives on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Maybe the studio can just let Kratos’ old co-star’s mate do the talking.
