Mobile gaming has a reputation problem, and it’s mostly deserved. Scroll through any app store and you’ll find a wall of gacha pulls and pay-to-win nonsense. So when a full-fat game like No Man’s Sky turns up on iPhone, I’m paying attention.
No Man’s Sky iOS Deep Dive
Hello Games boss Sean Murray confirmed the port in a YouTube video, saying the studio has spent roughly three years on it. The iPhone version is meant to deliver console-level quality, and it supports touch controls, controllers and even mouse and keyboard. Murray reckons the touch setup feels best in class, whether you’re walking around a planet or flying through space.
The bit that really matters is what you get on day one. New players will jump into a game with ten years of updates behind it, not some stripped-back mobile cut. Murray also said it will be free to try at launch. That’s a smart move, because a game this big sells itself once you’re actually playing it.

No release date has been given yet, and I’d love to see how it holds up on battery and heat. Still, a decade of content in your pocket is hard to argue with. Ten years ago, I’d have laughed at the idea.
