Phantom Blade Zero has barely been out a day, and Steam is already struggling to hold the crowd. The soulslike has hit an all-time peak of 723,876 concurrent players, and that number keeps creeping up by the hour.
It launched with close to 300,000 players online, so that’s more than double in a single day. I reckon a million is on the cards if the climb holds through the evening.

Phantom Blade Zero is a top seller from day one
The numbers on the charts match the sales. Phantom Blade Zero was already the top seller on Steam this week within hours of release, helped along by a run of strong reviews and some very flashy trailers.
Hype like that usually fades fast once launch day is over. Here it’s still growing, which says a lot about how many people were waiting for this one. Steam’s servers had better brace themselves.
