Razer Mako Speakers Bring Big Sound and RGB Style to Gaming Desks

Razer has introduced the new Razer Mako desktop gaming speakers, giving PC gamers a compact way to add louder sound, deeper bass, and colorful RGB lighting to their setups. The new speaker range includes two models, the Mako and Mako X, with each one designed for a different type of gaming desk.

The new Razer Mako series focuses on delivering a larger sound experience without taking up too much space. Both models feature custom tuned drivers, 7.1 virtual surround sound, USB C connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and 3.5 mm audio support.

Razer Mako offers a 2.1 channel setup

The Razer Mako is the more powerful model in the new range. It uses two 2.75 inch full range drivers along with a separate forward firing 3.5 inch subwoofer.

This gives the speaker system a 2.1 channel setup with 40 W RMS power and up to 60 W peak power. The frequency response goes down to 45 Hz, which should help provide stronger bass for games, movies, and music.

The speakers have an angled design that directs sound toward the listener instead of simply pointing straight across the desk. Razer also includes 7.1 virtual surround sound to create a wider soundstage during gaming.

For users who care about RGB lighting, the Razer Mako uses rear projection Razer Chroma RGB. The lighting can shine onto the wall behind the speakers and supports 16.8 million colors. Razer says the lighting also works with more than 300 Chroma compatible games.

The Mako connects through USB C, with higher output available when used with a compatible 30 W or higher USB C power source. Bluetooth 5.3 and a 3.5 mm connection are also available.

Razer Mako X keeps things smaller

The Razer Mako X is designed for users who want a cleaner and smaller desktop setup. Unlike the Mako, it uses a 2.0 channel configuration without a separate subwoofer.

It comes with two 2.75 inch full range drivers and built in passive radiators. These help improve the low end while keeping the speaker size compact.

The Mako X can deliver up to 30 W RMS and 45 W peak power, with a frequency response reaching down to 60 Hz. It can also operate from standard USB power at up to 15 W, while a compatible 30 W or higher USB C power source can provide more output.

Like the larger model, the Mako X has an angled design and supports 7.1 virtual surround sound. This is intended to create a wider sound experience for games, movies, and music.

The RGB system is different as well. Instead of projecting light onto the wall, the Mako X uses 10 zone Razer Chroma RGB underglow for a softer lighting effect underneath the speakers.

Flexible connections for modern gaming setups

Both Razer Mako models are designed to work with different types of devices. USB C provides both power and audio, while Bluetooth 5.3 gives users a wireless option.

A 3.5 mm audio connection is also included for devices that still use a standard wired audio connection.

This makes the speakers suitable for gaming PCs, laptops, and other compatible devices without requiring a complicated setup.
