Razer Clio X Adds Immersive Wireless Sound to Gaming Chairs

Razer has introduced the Razer Clio X wireless speaker, a new audio accessory designed to bring more immersive sound to gaming chairs without forcing users to wear a headset. The speaker head cushion combines THX Spatial Audio with Razer HyperSpeed wireless connectivity for a cleaner and more flexible gaming setup.

The Razer Clio X was unveiled at PAX West 2026, which took place from September 4 to September 7. Unlike a traditional desktop speaker, the Clio X sits directly behind the user’s head and is designed to deliver sound toward the ears.

Razer Clio X Brings Sound From Behind

The main idea behind the Razer Clio X is to add rear audio without installing a full surround sound system.

The cushion uses two 38 mm full-range drivers along with 55 mm passive radiators. The speakers are angled toward the listener, helping direct the sound from behind the chair rather than across the room.

Razer is also using THX Spatial Audio to create a wider soundstage. The company says its acoustic widening modes can add more depth and spatial awareness to games, movies, and music.

This makes the Clio X particularly interesting for gamers who want a more immersive setup but do not always want to use a gaming headset.

Wireless Connectivity Keeps the Setup Clean

The Razer Clio X uses Razer HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz wireless for low-latency audio. This removes the need to run an audio cable between the chair and a PC or console.

Power comes through USB-C, and the speaker can work with a USB-C PD 2.0 power bank. Razer claims up to 40 hours of wireless use, although actual battery life will depend on the capacity of the power bank and how the speaker is used.

There is also a built-in USB Type-C cable that can be stored inside the rear pouch of the cushion. That should help keep the setup tidy when the cable is not needed.

Designed for Most High-Back Chairs

Razer has designed the Clio X to work with a wide range of high-back gaming and office chairs. It uses an adjustable nylon strap that can be extended from 30 to 65 cm.

The cushion itself is made with supportive foam, allowing it to function as both a head cushion and a speaker system.

That broad compatibility means users do not necessarily need a Razer gaming chair to use the accessory.

It Can Also Work as a Rear Speaker

The Razer Clio X wireless speaker is not limited to use as a standalone speaker. It can also be paired with an existing soundbar or 2.0/2.1 speaker setup through its Surround Mode.

In this configuration, the Clio X is intended to act as the rear part of the audio setup, adding sound from behind the listener while the existing speakers handle the front.

For users who already have desktop speakers, this could make the Clio X a more interesting upgrade than simply using it as a replacement for a traditional speaker.
