The wait is finally over. Cyclops is heading to Marvel Rivals this Friday, 12th June, and NetEase has now officially confirmed he’ll be joining the roster as a Duelist. Vanguard mains, look away now.

Unsurprisingly, optic blasts are at the heart of Scott Summers’ kit. He can fire them directly at enemies or ricochet them off the environment and surrounding foes, which already sounds like a nightmare in the right hands. The kinetic force from those blasts also gives him some mobility, letting him weave through fights rather than just standing and shooting.
His ultimate is exactly what you’d expect: Scott removes his visor and lets loose an apocalyptic optic blast that obliterates everything in its path. Subtle.

On the team-up front, Cyclops and Wolverine are getting a new ability called Blast Slash, allowing Logan to charge his claws with optic energy. Rivals, indeed.
What else is coming in Season 8.5?
Plenty. A new 18v18 mode called Bounty Annihilation arrives with its own dedicated map, and Summer Swimsuit Special cosmetics are back for the season. There’s also a brand new social hub, Hellfire Bay Beach, to show them off.
As for the broader roadmap, the next Path to Doomsday update has been pushed to late July, with Phase Three delayed until mid-October. NetEase cited the lukewarm reception to the Avengers content as the reason, and it sounds like they’re taking the time to get it right.
