Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold brings a slimmer design, stronger build and smarter features

Google has officially introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, its latest premium foldable phone. The new model focuses on a thinner design, better durability, improved cameras and more useful AI features.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is almost 10% lighter and around 1mm thinner than the previous Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Google has also reduced the display bezels, giving the phone a cleaner look. It will be available in the familiar Obsidian color along with a new Olive option.

One of the most noticeable changes is the new HiLight feature built into the camera bar. Small LED lights around the camera flash can show different colors for things such as calls from selected contacts. HiLight can also react when you are speaking with Gemini hands-free, with more features expected later.

Built for better durability

Google has made several changes to make the Pixel 11 Pro Fold tougher. The phone keeps its IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, while the rear panel now uses a glass fiber composite designed to better handle drops and impacts.

The new gearless hinge is designed to protect the inner screen, while the outer display uses stronger ceramic cover glass. Google says the new phone is three times more durable than the previous generation.

The hinge also helps reduce the visible crease by using a larger bend radius. The inner display has a thicker glass layer as well. Both screens can now reach up to 3,600 nits of brightness, which is 20% brighter than the previous model.

Charging has also received an upgrade. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold can reach 50% battery in about 30 minutes using 30W wired charging. Wireless charging is now up to 25W with built-in Qi2.2 support, offering 20% faster wireless charging than the previous Fold.

Google says the phone can provide more than 24 hours of battery life.

Tensor G6 and smarter foldable features

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chip and comes with 16GB of RAM. The hardware is built around Google’s Gemini features, with the large foldable screen giving users more room to work with AI tools.

One interesting addition is sign-to-text support. Developed with members of the Deaf community, the feature can recognize American Sign Language through the front camera and show translated text on the outer display. The foldable design also makes it easier to position the phone while signing.

Google has improved multitasking as well. Apps can be turned into floating bubbles that remain available in the lower-right corner of the unfolded screen. Existing foldable features such as Drag and Drop, Split Screen and Instant View are also included.

The phone also gets new animations for Made You Look, along with proactive assistance and improved Circle to Search support through Pixel Camera.

A new 48MP main camera

Camera performance is another major part of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google has added a new 48MP main camera designed to capture more detailed photos in different conditions.

The telephoto camera can offer up to 30x Super Zoom, giving users more flexibility when shooting distant subjects.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold also includes new Pixel 11 camera tools such as Magic Capture and Camera Looks. Magic Capture is designed to help catch better moments when subjects are moving, while Camera Looks gives users more ways to change the appearance of their photos.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold price and availability

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is now available for pre-order, with retail availability starting August 20. Google is also offering a new case with an integrated hinge cover for people who want extra protection for the foldable phone.

With its slimmer body, brighter displays, stronger hinge, new camera hardware and expanded Gemini features, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold looks like a serious upgrade for users who want a premium foldable without giving up durability or everyday usability.
