Fans of medieval RPGs suddenly have a lot to look forward to. Warhorse Studios has officially confirmed that it is working on two brand-new games: another project set in the Kingdom Come universe and a new open-world Lord of the Rings RPG based in Middle-earth.
The announcement arrived through the studio’s official social channels, ending months of rumours about a possible Tolkien project. While the reveal was light on details, it was still enough to get people talking almost immediately.
A new Kingdom Come adventure raises questions
Interestingly, Warhorse Studios avoided directly calling the next Kingdom Come project an RPG. Instead, the studio described it as a “new adventure”, which has already sparked speculation online.
That wording could mean absolutely nothing. Still, fans are wondering whether the developer might try something slightly different while keeping the same grounded medieval setting that made Kingdom Come: Deliverance so popular in the first place.
At the moment, though, there is no gameplay, release window, or story information to work with.
Middle-earth feels like a natural fit
The bigger surprise is clearly the Lord of the Rings project. An open-world RPG set in Middle-earth sounds ambitious, but it also feels like a strong match for Warhorse Studios after the detailed world-building seen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Exactly where the game sits within Tolkien’s timeline remains unknown. That has not stopped excitement building already.
Realistically, both games are probably years away. Large RPGs take time, especially after the studio only recently launched Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Even so, fans finally have confirmation that a new Middle-earth adventure is officially happening.
