IO Interactive hasn’t made a game outside the Hitman universe since Kane & Lynch 2 in 2010. Sixteen years later, its Bond debut 007 First Light has already shifted 1.5 million copies, and it’s only been out for a day.
The studio confirmed the milestone on X, just 24 hours after the full release and two days after deluxe edition owners got early access. For a team that spent over a decade synonymous with Agent 47, that’s quite the statement.

Where does it go from here?
That sequel tease opens up an interesting question. Historically, whoever plays Bond on film plays Bond everywhere else too. But with Amazon MGM now holding the IP, that rule could change, potentially allowing Patrick Gibson to reprise the role in games while a separate actor headlines the films.
