If you’ve been sitting on the fence about picking up a Steam Deck, that fence just got a bit more uncomfortable. Valve has raised prices across its handheld lineup with immediate effect, and the increases are pretty significant.
Steam Deck 1TB OLED model has jumped from $649 to $949 – a $300 increase – while the 512GB OLED has gone from $549 to $789, up by $240. Both changes are already live on the Steam store right now.
The reason behind this sudden hike
Valve hasn’t been vague about the reasoning behind Steam Deck price hike . In an official blog post, the company pointed to rising memory and storage costs alongside what it described as global logistical challenges across the industry. It’s the kind of broad explanation that’s hard to argue with, but still stings when you’re the one reaching for your wallet.

What does this mean for the Steam Machine?
Here’s where things get interesting. The Steam Machine still doesn’t have a confirmed price, despite reportedly being close to launch. Valve had already flagged it was reassessing that device’s pricing back in February — citing the exact same memory cost issues.
Linus Tech Tips previously floated a figure of around $700, but given everything that’s happened since, that estimate is looking increasingly optimistic. Don’t be shocked if the Steam Machine lands north of $1,000.

Pricing and a firm launch date are still to be confirmed.
