Gears of War E-Day Xbox Controller Brings a Great New Look for Fans

Microsoft has unveiled a new Gears of War E-Day Xbox Controller ahead of the game’s launch, giving fans a themed Xbox accessory with a look inspired by the dark and brutal world of Gears of War.

The Gears of War E-Day Xbox Controller is now available for pre-order at $89.99. That makes it $25 more expensive than the regular Xbox Wireless Controller, but the special design is aimed squarely at fans who want something different.

The controller uses the same internal hardware as the standard Xbox Wireless Controller, so there are no major changes to how it works. The real difference is the design.

It comes with a translucent D-pad topper and Xbox button, while the right thumbstick has a red finish. The triggers are also translucent red, adding a strong Gears of War touch to the controller.

Microsoft has also given the grips a textured, leather-like finish on the back and sides. This should make the controller feel a little more distinctive in the hands while keeping the overall design focused on the game’s style.

More Gears of War designs are coming

The special controller is not the only option Xbox has planned for fans. New Gears of War E-Day Xbox controller designs are also coming to Xbox Design Lab.

These custom parts were designed by Luke Preece and include a striking top case featuring two Chainsaw Lancers surrounded by skulls. Players will also be able to choose from several custom buttons to create their own Gears of War-themed controller.

The Design Lab options were not available at the time of the announcement, but Microsoft says they will only be offered for a limited time. The Gears of War E-Day Xbox Controller will also be available for a limited period.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026. With the new controller arriving ahead of the game, fans now have another way to bring the series’ gritty style into their gaming setup.
