Marvel’s Wolverine sales hit 2.4 million, not Spider-Man level

Marvel’s Wolverine has sold 2.4 million copies in 50 days, per Sony’s latest report.

2.4 million copies in 50 days sounds healthy until you put Wolverine next to Insomniac’s last big swing.

Sony’s latest financial results put Marvel’s Wolverine at 2.4 million units sold worldwide as of November 4. For comparison, Spider-Man 2 sold 5 million in just 10 days. That’s not a close race.

An analytics firm previously estimated 1.9 million copies in the opening week. If that guess was right, the game has only added around 500,000 sales since. That’s a steep drop-off, and I’d be a bit worried if I were Sony.

Is Wolverine a flop for Sony?

It’s not all bad news. It was still the best-selling game of September 2026, and players have rated it 97/100 since launch, even with critics being far more lukewarm. It’s also a PS5 exclusive, which limits the audience.

The bigger problem is the reported $300 million budget. At that price, 2.4 million sales is a start, not a win. Sony will need the game to keep selling for a long while to recoup that spend.

The Black Friday sales might help with that. Wolverine is already discounted on PlayStation, so if you’ve been holding out, now’s your chance.
