Ocarina of Time Remake is already running on PC emulators

The Ocarina of Time remake is already running on PC through the Lichii emulator at 15 to 30 FPS, just hours after its Switch 2 launch. Not playable yet.

The Switch 2 is barely out of the gate and we are already back to the old routine. The Ocarina of Time remake launched a few hours ago, and it is already running on PC.

Several videos on Reddit show the Lichii emulator booting the game. It follows last month’s Switch 2 jailbreak, which is what let people dump the game so quickly. Don’t get too excited yet. Performance jumps between 15 and 30 FPS, and there are visual glitches too. Then again, the original N64 version ran at 20 FPS, so you could call that authentic. I won’t, but you could.

A native PC Ocarina of Time Remake port is also in the works

Emulation isn’t the only route. A Reddit user going by Remarkable-Net6962 is building a native PC port. It currently plays the intro and then crashes the moment gameplay starts. Not great, but it’s early days.

Progress has been quick so far. Mario Kart World went from nothing to running on PC with NVIDIA DLSS 5 in just a few days. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Ocarina of Time remake hit 4K and 60 FPS before the week is out.

Nintendo’s lawyers are probably already reaching for their phones.
