First Nintendo Switch 2 jailbreak exploit has been found

Nintendo Switch 2
A developer has revealed the first Nintendo Switch 2 jailbreak, ns2jb, and used it to mod Cinnamoroll, Peter Griffin and Hatsune Miku into Mario Kart World.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has its first known jailbreak. X user @pepsipu has revealed an exploit called ns2jb and shown it off by adding Cinnamoroll, Peter Griffin, Hatsune Miku and other characters to Mario Kart World.

According to its creator, ns2jb is a software-only, tethered jailbreak. It can run arbitrary native code as an ordinary sysmodule, and also as the built-in fs sysmodule.

That opens up several uses. The creator says it can run homebrew, reverse engineer and mod Switch 2 games, back up save files off the console, and access most of the Switch 2’s peripherals through MMIO. They also say that, to their knowledge, it is the first exploit of its kind for the console.

Nintendo Switch exploit is limited for now

The exploit is still narrow in scope. The Mario Kart World character mods are the main demonstration so far, and it is nowhere near the 2026 PS5 jailbreak developments, which let users play a wide range of games, from AAA exclusives to titles from older generations and platforms.

Nintendo is expected to patch the exploit with a system update once it takes notice. Sony’s situation shows how that can go. The company has tried to shut down the PS5 jailbreak, but updated jailbreak patches keep getting around new firmware.

If more exploits are found for the Switch 2, a full jailbreak could follow.
