HouseMarque’s next title is a proper showcase for Sony’s hardware.

Sony has detailed the full list of PS5 and PS5 Pro features coming to Saros when it launches on 30 April, and there’s quite a bit to dig into. The Returnal developer has clearly put serious thought into making the most of what both consoles can do.

PS5 Pro gets the biggest upgrades

On PS5 Pro specifically, players will benefit from an updated PSSR implementation that pushes image quality close enough to native 4K that you’d struggle to tell the difference. The base render resolution has also been bumped up, meaning 60 FPS gameplay looks noticeably crisper. Cutscenes are the exception, dropping to 30 FPS, but that’s a fair trade-off.

Saros’ shared features across both consoles

Both versions of the game get a suite of DualSense upgrades. Adaptive triggers have been tuned to respond differently depending on how far you pull them, halfway versus all the way down produces distinct feedback, which should add a tactile layer to combat.

HouseMarque has also promised “very special haptics” right from the opening moments, building on the groundwork laid by Returnal. Precision 3D Audio gets an update too, with further refinements to Sony’s Tempest AudioTech.

Load times keep the action moving

Near-instant load times round things out, letting players jump back in quickly after death, something that’ll matter a lot given HouseMarque’s track record. Activating an eclipse promises to shift the gameplay, audio, and visuals dramatically, and fast loading ensures that shift hits without interruption.
