ASUS Chromebook CM14 offers stylish design and massive battery life

ASUS has officially announced the new ASUS Chromebook CM14 (CM1406), a budget-friendly laptop made for students, office users, and everyday tasks. The latest Chromebook comes with a clean premium design, lightweight body, and strong battery life, while still keeping the price-friendly approach that Chromebooks are known for.

The new model features a 14-inch Full HD display with wide viewing angles and an impressive 86% screen-to-body ratio. ASUS says the laptop is designed to offer a better viewing experience for work, streaming, and online learning. The display can also lay flat thanks to its 180-degree hinge, making it easier to share content with others.

Powering the laptop is the MediaTek Kompanio 540 processor based on Arm architecture. ASUS has paired it with up to 8 GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 128 GB eMMC storage for smooth everyday performance. Despite being an affordable machine, ASUS has included useful ports like HDMI and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports with full functionality.

One of the biggest highlights is portability. The Chromebook starts at just 1.32 kg, making it easy to carry for school, office, or travel use. ASUS also claims the battery can last up to 23 hours, which could make it one of the stronger options in this category for users who need all-day usage without charging.

The company is also focusing heavily on design this time. The Chromebook CM14 comes in Platinum Silver, Forest Blue, and Blue Aura colours. ASUS says the matching keyboard and diamond-cut finish give the laptop a more premium look than typical budget Chromebooks.

ASUS has also redesigned the internal layout to make repairs and maintenance easier. The bottom cover uses only four screws for quick access, while the battery now features a screwless latching system for easier replacement. The laptop also meets MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability standards for better long-term reliability.

Another bonus is the included three-month Google AI Pro trial for eligible buyers. This gives access to Gemini AI tools, 5 TB cloud storage, and AI features inside Google services like Gmail and Docs.
