Ajazz AM5 Wireless Gaming Mouse Launches With PAW3950 Sensor and 8KHz Polling

Ajazz AM5 Wireless Gaming Mouse
Ajazz AM5 wireless gaming mouse features a PAW3950 sensor, 8KHz polling, a 52g magnesium alloy shell, triple connectivity, and up to 126 hours of battery life.

Ajazz AM5 wireless gaming mouse introduced, a new model designed for gamers who want high polling rates in a lightweight metal body. The mouse combines a PixArt PAW3950 sensor with an 8,000Hz polling rate over 2.4GHz wireless, three connectivity options, and a magnesium alloy shell weighing approximately 52 grams.

The Ajazz AM5 also includes Omron optical microswitches rated for up to 70 million clicks and a 350mAh battery. According to the company, the mouse can deliver up to 126 hours of battery life when operating at a 1,000Hz polling rate. However, Ajazz has not yet announced its price or confirmed when the mouse will go on sale.

Ajazz AM5 Features a Lightweight Magnesium Alloy Shell

The Ajazz AM5 measures 117.92 × 61.95 × 39.24 mm and weighs around 52 grams. Its magnesium alloy shell uses a high-temperature baked finish, giving the mouse a metal exterior while keeping its overall weight relatively low. This design will appeal to gamers who prefer lightweight mice for fast movements during competitive games.

Despite its metal construction, the Ajazz AM5 keeps its weight close to that of several lightweight gaming mice with plastic shells. Its dimensions also provide a relatively compact footprint, although its suitability for different grip styles will depend on the user’s hand size and preferred grip.

Ajazz has paired the mouse with a Nordic 52840 main controller and a PAW3950 optical sensor. The sensor is designed for gaming applications where accurate tracking and responsive movement matter, while the main controller manages the mouse’s input and wireless functions.

PAW3950 Sensor Supports Up to 8,000Hz Polling

One of the main features of the Ajazz AM5 is its support for an 8,000Hz polling rate through a 2.4GHz wireless connection. At this rate, the mouse can report its position and input data to a connected system up to 8,000 times per second, corresponding to a reporting interval of approximately 0.125 milliseconds.

A higher polling rate can reduce the time between input reports, which may help in competitive games that require quick and precise movements. However, the difference between 1,000Hz and 8,000Hz will depend on the game, system performance, display refresh rate, and the player’s sensitivity to input latency. Higher polling rates can also increase power consumption.

The AM5 supports three connection methods: USB wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth 5.0. This gives users the option to connect through a cable, use the dedicated wireless connection for gaming, or pair the mouse with compatible devices over Bluetooth.

The available specifications confirm 8,000Hz polling over 2.4GHz wireless. Ajazz has not provided equivalent polling-rate details for its wired and Bluetooth modes, so performance in those configurations remains unconfirmed.

Omron Optical Switches and 350mAh Battery

For its primary buttons, Ajazz has selected Omron optical microswitches with a rated lifespan of up to 70 million clicks. The company has also used a plastic elastic arm structure for the buttons, although it has not shared further information about the expected click feel, actuation characteristics, or long-term performance of this design.

The mouse includes a 350mAh lithium battery. Ajazz claims up to approximately 126 hours of battery life when using a 1,000Hz polling rate, with its main control algorithm managing power consumption.

That figure applies to the stated 1,000Hz operating condition rather than the maximum 8,000Hz setting. Ajazz has not disclosed battery-life figures for 8,000Hz wireless operation, so users prioritising the highest polling rate will need to wait for more information about endurance under that workload.

Ajazz AM5 Price and Availability

Ajazz has not announced the AM5’s retail price or release date. Details about regional availability and the final retail offering also remain unconfirmed.

The mouse brings together a magnesium alloy construction, a PAW3950 sensor, 8,000Hz wireless polling, and three connection options in a 52g design. Its eventual value will depend on its pricing, real-world tracking performance, wireless stability, and battery life at higher polling rates. More information from Ajazz should help establish how it compares with other lightweight wireless gaming mice.
