If you’ve spent the last few years wincing at Snoop Dogg and a Burger King mascot running around your lobbies, this one’s for you.
Call of Duty has officially promised that Modern Warfare 4 will be free of ridiculous crossover skins and what the team itself called “BS.” It’s a direct acknowledgement of the backlash that’s been building for years, fans have grown increasingly frustrated watching a franchise built on gritty, grounded military action get overrun by WWE wrestlers and Beavis and Butthead cameos.
Back to basics
The message came via social media following the reveal of the Modern Warfare 4 trailer, with the developers making clear they’ve heard the community loud and clear. The focus, they say, will be on staying true to the intense tone that made Modern Warfare what it is.
A big release on multiple fronts
Modern Warfare 4 is shaping up to be a landmark entry for more than just cosmetic reasons. It marks Call of Duty’s return to Nintendo platforms after a lengthy absence, and it’ll be skipping last-gen entirely, no PS4 or Xbox One support. Warzone is also dropping those platforms this year, signalling a clean break from the previous console generation.

October 2026 can’t come soon enough.
