Xbox has officially confirmed that Fable, one of its most anticipated Xbox exclusives in years, has been pushed back to February 2027. The announcement came via Xbox’s official X account, with the post stating the decision was made so the game “can have the dedicated moment it deserves.”
A messy few weeks
It hasn’t exactly been a smooth run-up to this news. Last month, reports surfaced suggesting Fable had been quietly delayed internally, with concerns about launching too close to GTA 6 cited as a key reason. Playground Games quickly pushed back, with a developer reassuring fans that the Autumn 2026 window was still on, which, clearly, it wasn’t.

What comes next
For now, Xbox is pointing fans towards its June 2027 Showcase as the next major moment for Fable. There’s still no firm release date, just that February 2027 window, which means the wait for concrete details continues.
It’s worth noting the game did recently appear on a Korean ratings site, which had briefly raised hopes that a release was closer than expected.

In the meantime, Xbox has plenty on its plate for 2026, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and GTA VI. The Xbox Games Showcase and a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct are both set for 7th June 2026.
