Microsoft’s multiplatform shift continues to bear fruit, and the numbers are hard to argue with.
Forza Horizon 5 – 5 Million copies and counting
Co-developer Virtuos has confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 ranked among the best-selling games on PlayStation 5 in 2025, crossing the 5 million sold mark on the platform. The studio shared the news via an infographic on its official website, also revealing the scale of its involvement, handling around 90% of the photo-realistic vehicles across the base game and DLC, alongside environmental assets, texture libraries, biome-specific detail work, and vehicle animation and damage systems.
It’s an impressive haul for a game that launched on PC and Xbox Series X|S years before it ever touched Sony’s hardware.

Bad news for anyone hoping Xbox goes exclusive again
The timing is notable. Rumours have circulated that Microsoft is weighing a return to console exclusives, but Forza Horizon 5‘s PS5 performance makes that a difficult argument to sustain. Walking away from that kind of revenue, on a platform where the game is clearly resonating with players, would be a significant gamble.
It also sets a strong precedent for Forza Horizon 6, which is due on PS5 later this year. If FH5 can pull 5 million without launching day-and-date on PlayStation, FH6, arriving simultaneously, could do considerably better.

Microsoft’s multiplatform era isn’t going anywhere.
