Need for Seat is the viral office chair racing game you didn’t know you needed

Office life just got a whole lot more chaotic. Need for Seat is a new indie kart racer that’s capturing hearts online, and the concept is exactly as brilliantly daft as it sounds.

Drifting through the 9-to-5

Players race around office environments aboard, you guessed it, office chairs. The game draws obvious comparisons to Mario Kart, complete with Lucky Box power-ups that inject unpredictable chaos into every race. But the standout mechanic is its drift system: the longer you hold a drift, the faster you go. Sharp office corridors become high-speed playgrounds rather than obstacles.

Each chair and driver brings their own unique perks and stat profile to the grid, covering Top Speed, Acceleration, Boost Speed, Normal Turn Speed, and Drift Turn Speed. Meta builds are already a very real possibility, which should keep competitive players busy.

Going viral fast

The game exploded online after indie game curator Indie Game Joe shared the trailer on X, calling out its unique premise. His post has since racked up over 8,000 likes and nearly a million impressions, not bad for a game most people had never heard of days ago.

How to wishlist Need for Seat

Need for Seat is currently available to wishlist on Steam. If sliding sideways through a break room at top speed sounds like your kind of Friday afternoon, it’s worth adding to your list.
