NVIDIA Brings GeForce NOW to Linux With a Better Gaming Experience

NVIDIA has officially launched the Linux version of its GeForce NOW app after months of testing and feedback from the community. The native app is now available worldwide, giving Linux users an easier way to play supported PC games through cloud streaming.

The official Linux release supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and newer versions. NVIDIA has also provided a Flatpak option, along with official setup instructions, making it easier for users on other Linux-based systems to get started.

The company says it has worked on several fixes to make the Linux version perform more like the Windows app. This should be useful for people who mainly use Linux for work but still want to play PC games without switching to another operating system.

NVIDIA has also improved the way DLSS 4.5 Frame Generation works on Linux. The company says the changes make frame generation feel more responsive while reducing unwanted delays and stuttering.

GeForce NOW Performance members are also getting a performance boost. NVIDIA has made changes to the CPU performance on its cloud servers, which can result in higher frame rates. The improvements should be easier to notice when playing at 120 FPS or using higher resolutions such as 4K.

Since these changes are being made on NVIDIA’s servers, GeForce NOW users do not need to install a new app update to receive the performance improvements.

The cloud gaming service already supports more than 2,000 games. NVIDIA is also adding several new titles this week, including Car Wash Simulator, Pax Autocratica, Clawed, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Sandustry, Cat Mail Co., Misery, Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo, and Pratfall.

With the official Linux app now out of beta, GeForce NOW is a more practical option for Linux users who want to stream games without relying on unofficial solutions or changing their operating system.
