007 First Light opening cinematic feels like a real Bond Film

IO Interactive isn’t messing around with 007 First Light. The studio has dropped the official title sequence for the upcoming James Bond origin game, and it’s about as faithful to the films as you can get without actually being one.

A Proper Bond Opening

The sequence, revealed on 17 April, follows the traditional Bond blueprint to the letter. Credits roll over shadowy silhouettes, familiar imagery fills the screen, and the whole thing carries the kind of weight you’d expect from a theatrical release rather than a video game. It’s a deliberate statement of intent from IO Interactive, this isn’t a licensed tie-in knocked together to shift copies. It’s a serious production.

Backing it all is Lana Del Rey, confirmed on 16 April as the artist behind the game’s theme song. That’s another box ticked on the Bond checklist.

007 First Light is more than just another game with the Bond licence attached. It’s the first original Bond story of any kind since Daniel Craig signed off with No Time to Die in 2021, and the first story-driven Bond game since Blood Stone in 2010. That’s a long gap, and there’s clearly pressure to get it right.

The game follows a younger Bond navigating the early days of his MI6 career, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 27 May 2026.
