NetEase isn’t easing into the single-player space, it’s cannonballing in. The publisher revealed a stunning new story trailer for Blood Message at Summer Game Fest, and if the comparisons to Crimson Desert and Black Myth weren’t already flying around, they certainly are now.
Blood Message reveal trailer
A messenger, a son, and a thousand miles of war
Blood Message is 24 Entertainment Lin’an’s debut title, and it follows a nameless messenger forced into an impossible journey alongside his son. The pair must cross a war-torn landscape, a thousand miles of it, to deliver a single message, navigating warring factions and seemingly insurmountable odds the entire way.
It’s a refreshing angle, too. Rather than putting players in the boots of some legendary general or mythic warrior, the game centres on the overlooked figures of history. The ordinary people caught in the chaos.

NetEase’s first AAA single-player swing
This marks NetEase’s first venture into AAA single-player gaming, a notable pivot from the multiplayer titles they’re best known for, Once Human, Naraka: Bladepoint, Where Winds Meet. From what the trailer shows, they haven’t held back.
Combat blends stealth, survival, and full-on action across gorgeous, expansive environments. The pacing reportedly ebbs and flows, and the narrative plays out in a largely linear fashion.

It looks seriously ambitious. Whether it delivers is another matter entirely, but the foundation is hard to argue with.
