Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received its final content update today, sending the game off with both a story conclusion and a brand new endgame mode.
The story drop is called Black Tides, and it picks up after the main campaign ends. Naoke and Yasuke find themselves hunted by a group of elite Templars called the Black Cross, who have come to Japan specifically to take the pair down. They’ve got their own agenda beyond the hunt, though exactly what that is remains to be discovered in-game.

To access it, players need to have finished the main story and both previous free updates. The Claws of Awaji DLC can be skipped entirely.
Domains gives you a reason to keep playing AC Shadows
The second piece of the AC Shadows update is Domains, a new endgame activity that Ubisoft describes as “Animus-bending.” Behind the marketing speak, it’s five arenas across ten difficulty tiers, with modifiers that grow more demanding the higher you climb.
It also comes with its own merchant and currency, so there’s actual incentive to push through the harder difficulties. Rewards include cosmetics, weapons, and progression tree unlocks, with a few items already teased that long-time Assassin’s Creed fans will recognise.

Black Tides and Domains are both free and available now. It’s a decent final note for Assassin’s Creed Shadows that has had a busy few months of post-launch support.
