GTA 6 price confirmed: $80 Base, $100 Ultimate Edition

GTA 6

The number gaming fans had been dreading never arrived.

Grand Theft Auto 6‘s base edition will cost $79.99 at launch, confirming that Rockstar Games won’t be the first major publisher to push a standalone AAA title past the $100 mark. That dubious honour falls to the Ultimate Edition instead, priced at $99.99.

It’s a relief, but not without a catch.

What each edition actually gets you

GTA 6 base edition includes the core game plus pre-order bonuses for anyone who commits early. The Ultimate Edition bundles in considerably more, though Rockstar hasn’t broken down every item included just yet.

There’s a sting buried in the fine print, though. Five single-player stores are reportedly locked behind that $100 tier, meaning players who stick with the standard edition miss out on content baked into the open world itself. Anyone hoping for a disc in the box will also be disappointed, since physical copies now arrive with a download code rather than physical media.

The wait is nearly over

Pre-orders officially open on June 25, giving fans a concrete date to work towards after years of speculation. Rockstar has called GTA 6 the “biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet,” language that’s easy to dismiss as standard marketing until the scale of the game is taken into account.

Whether $80 still feels steep depends entirely on what that five-store paywall actually contains. For now, at least, the headline number is one fans can live with.
