Sony's State of Play dropped a new Until Dawn 2 trailer, showing off the Dead True crew, Akishima Island, and a release date of January 28, 2027.

Until Dawn was already the gold standard for choice-driven horror, so seeing Firesprite pick up the torch for a full sequel was always going to be a big deal. Until Dawn 2’s new trailer from Sony’s September State of Play just proved they’re taking it seriously.

Until Dawn 2 – Pre-Order Trailer

The footage centres on the Dead True crew, a group of ghost-hunters who stumble onto something much bigger than a normal case. After an investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium goes wrong, they meet a supernatural survivor named Yoona, who leads them to Akishima Island. It’s described as a remote paradise abandoned for decades, hiding secrets older than anyone on the crew realised.

As with the original game, your choices steer the story. Do you chase a signal to find a missing friend, or take a risky detour that might uncover clues instead? Make the sacrifice you’re told to make, or find another way out? Every decision apparently shifts who lives and who doesn’t, which is exactly the kind of tension that made the first game so replayable.

Until Dawn 2 launches on PS5 on January 28, 2027. Firesprite has a lot to live up to, but if this trailer is any indication, they’re not playing it safe.
