PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock Adds a Smart 5-Inch Display to Your Desk

Pexar has launched a new Thunderbolt 5 dock that takes a different approach to desktop connectivity. The PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock comes with a built-in 5-inch touchscreen that lets users see what is happening across their connected devices without opening software on their computer.

The new dock is now available through Kickstarter, with an early-bird price of $479. Pexar says the device is designed for users who need a large number of connections for work involving storage, displays, networking and other peripherals.

A 5-Inch Screen Makes the Dock More Useful

The main feature that separates the PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock from a typical docking station is its touchscreen dashboard.

The display can show useful information such as connected devices, data transfer activity, storage details, power readings on supported ports, temperature and fan status. This gives users a quick way to check the dock without having to stop what they are doing on their PC or Mac.

There is also a metal control dial for navigating the interface. Pexar says the dock’s AI Status feature can also be used to approve or reject requests from supported AI coding agents.

22 Ports for Workstations and Creators

Pexar has packed the dock with 22 connections, making it aimed more at professional and power users than basic laptop setups.

For photographers and video creators, the dock includes dedicated CFexpress Type B, SD UHS-II and microSD UHS-II card readers. It also has an M.2 NVMe slot using PCIe Gen 4 x2, allowing users to install their own SSD for extra storage or local backups.

Networking is covered by a 10GbE port, which can be useful when moving large files to and from compatible NAS storage.

The dock also includes two downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, along with DisplayPort 2.1 or HDMI 2.1 connectivity. Depending on the setup, Pexar says it can handle up to dual 8K displays at 60 Hz or triple 4K displays at 144 Hz.

Thunderbolt 5 Brings High-Speed Connectivity

At the heart of the PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock is Thunderbolt 5.

The dock supports up to 80 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth. Its Bandwidth Boost feature can provide up to 120 Gbps of transmit bandwidth for workloads that put heavy demands on display bandwidth.

That should make the dock particularly interesting for users working with high-resolution displays, large files and fast external storage.

Pexar has also included an active cooling system. The dock monitors fan speed and moves air through an internal cooling path to help maintain stable performance during long periods of heavy use.

Up to 140 W Laptop Charging

The PexarBolt is designed to replace several separate desktop connections with a single Thunderbolt cable.

Its Thunderbolt 5 host connection supports up to 140 W USB PD 3.1 charging for compatible laptops. Two front USB-C ports can also share up to 45 W for charging smaller devices such as smartphones and tablets.

The body itself uses aluminium, giving the dock a more premium look while also helping with stability and heat dissipation.

PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Price and Availability

The PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock launched on Kickstarter on September 8 with an early-bird price of $479.

After the Kickstarter campaign ends, Pexar plans to sell the dock at an official retail price of $649.

The product has also received recognition as a 2026 IFA Innovation Awards Honoree in the Content Creation Technology category.
