Googlebook laptops arrive with Intel’s new Core Ultra chips

Google and Intel have officially teamed up on a new laptop category, and it’s called Googlebook. Not the catchiest name in the world, but the hardware behind it is.

Acer, ASUS and Lenovo are the launch partners, each rolling out their own Googlebook model, the Acer 14, ASUS 14, and Lenovo 15 (all googlebooks), all built on Intel’s freshly announced Core Ultra Series 3 chips, codenamed Panther Lake. These are Intel’s first processors made on its 18A node, which the company is keen to remind everyone is the most advanced chip manufacturing process built in the US. Whether that translates to a genuinely better experience for buyers or just marketing bragging rights is the bit that actually matters, and we’ll only really know once reviewers get their hands on them.

ASUS is leaning hard into the design angle with its ultralight build, while Lenovo’s pitching its version as the sensible, everyday option. Acer’s take is a convertible, presumably aimed at the “I want a laptop that pretends to be a tablet” crowd.

No pricing has been confirmed yet, which is always the detail that decides whether any of this actually matters to real buyers.
