Everyone keeps predicting the death of the disc, but Microsoft just posted a job that says otherwise. Sort of.
As spotted on Microsoft’s careers page, Xbox is hiring an Xbox Games Supply Strategist. The listing went up on 14 October 2026, and the person who gets the job will coordinate the launch of physical Xbox games across all platforms. They’ll also manage stock levels, work with marketing and finance, and keep the supply chain cheap and reliable. Not exactly the description of a team preparing to switch the lights off on discs.
Don’t pop the champagne yet
I’d keep my excitement in check, though. A Reddit thread pointed out that this might simply be an existing role that Microsoft needs to refill. If that’s true, the listing says very little about the future. It just says someone left.

Still, I think the timing matters. If Xbox were planning to go fully digital soon, why would it bother hiring someone to plan physical supply? The obvious answer is that it wouldn’t. The less exciting answer is that this is a stopgap, and the plan is to wind discs down slowly rather than all at once.
Either way, it’s a small clue in a very loud debate. Xbox hasn’t said a word about its disc plans, so for now, the box on the shelf lives to see another day.
