Anyone hoping for a Destiny reveal at The Game Awards can stop refreshing their feeds. Bungie has said it won’t be happening.
In a community update, the studio told fans not to expect a Destiny announcement at the show, or a sudden logo drop meant to set the internet on fire. That’s a letdown, but I’d take it over a game revealed years before it’s ready. Bungie seems to know that too.
It also hints that a new game is still a long way off. Still, this comes after Bungie ended the sequel’s content with no new game seemingly in the works. Fans pushed back hard online, and the studio then said it’s not done with it yet. A quiet awards show is a small price for that.

What Bungie has lined up instead
There is still plenty to look forward to. Destiny 2’s Unvaulting initiative will bring back removed campaigns and activities, though the first release isn’t expected until early 2028.
Bungie also mentioned a Destiny “Legacy” project, with an update due next February. Details are thin, but recent teasers have fans guessing at a remaster of the original. That would fit the name, though Bungie hasn’t confirmed anything.
For now, Destiny fans are stuck waiting until February. They’re used to it by now.
