Helldivers 2 players have found a new reason to be angry at Arrowhead, and this time it’s the anti-cheat. The game’s recent Steam reviews have slipped to Mostly Negative, even though the overall rating still sits at Mostly Positive.
The trigger is the switch from GameGuard to Easy Anti-Cheat. Arrowhead says the new system will keep matches fair and protect the game’s integrity. The studio also said it is fine with cosmetic and non-gameplay mods, but it will act against anything that gives an unfair edge or hurts other players. Fair enough on paper. In practice, Easy Anti-Cheat appears to be blocking mods across the board, not just the shady ones.
That is where the anger comes from. One reviewer said the new anti-cheat broke their basic quality of life mods, which they argue fix problems the developers should have fixed themselves. Another said the game no longer works on cloud gaming platforms like Boosteroid, so they can’t play at all. I can see why that stings. Losing a harmless mod is annoying, but losing access to the game entirely is a different story.

Its not the first time for Helldivers 2
Arrowhead hasn’t commented on the review bombing yet. The community has done this before, most notably at launch when the studio tried to force PSN linking. That backlash got big enough that Arrowhead released a Review Bomb Cape to poke fun at it.
I doubt a cape is coming this time. Cloud players are locked out, and that’s not much of a joke.
