Gray Zone Warfare has crossed a milestone many early access shooters never reach, and MADFINGER picked the perfect moment to drop its biggest update yet.
The open-world tactical MMOFPS has sold 1.5 million copies since entering early access in April 2024, and the developer is marking the occasion with patch 0.4.5.0, a PvP-focused overhaul packed with community-requested fixes.
Building on a strong foundation
The groundwork for this milestone was laid in March, when the 0.4 update reshaped much of what Gray Zone Warfare had been up to that point. It was widely regarded as the biggest transformation since launch, earning praise from reviewers for how far the game had come.

What’s new in Patch 0.4.5.0
The biggest changes target PvP. Conflict Zones have grown from 300 metres to 400 metres, making it harder for attackers to have their position given away the moment a fight starts.
Respawn logic has also been reworked, giving players who win a fight more time to secure the area and loot kills before anyone they eliminated can fight back.
Combat Outposts now carry a 30-minute recapture cooldown, putting a stop to the rapid flip-flopping between factions that had frustrated players.

On the community side, Task Sharing lets squads split side missions without losing progress, something fans had requested since early access began. This Gray Zone Warfare patch also adds DLSS 4.5 support and a wave of smaller fixes throughout.
MADFINGER is marking the milestone with a Steam sale and a Twitch Drops campaign, giving newcomers extra incentive to step into Lamang.
