I’m a big fan of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and it’s already one of the year’s biggest films. What I didn’t expect is how it’s sending people straight back into Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.
The numbers don’t lie
According to Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott, the film has pushed AC: Odyssey up to 233,000 daily active users within 10 days of release. On premiere day, the game had around 122,000 daily players. That’s nearly double, off the back of one film.
Elliott also broke the jump down by platform. Steam saw a 26% rise in interest, PlayStation nearly doubled its numbers, and Xbox saw the biggest spike of all, up 134%.
A lot of that comes down to Game Pass and PS Plus. Rather than buying the game outright, players are simply booting it up through their existing subscriptions, made easier by Ubisoft posting well-timed social content to ride the wave of the film’s release.

None of this really surprises me, though. Odyssey is widely seen as the best of the RPG-era Assassin’s Creed games, mostly because of how well Ubisoft built out Ancient Greece. It’s still one of the best ways to explore that period in any game, film, or otherwise, so it makes sense people are jumping back in now that Nolan’s put it back in the spotlight.
